Helga
Andrew Wyeth (1917–2009)
It is unlikely that ever before has an artist created over two hundred and forty individual works of a single model. German born model, Helga Testorf was in her mid 30's a neighbor and friend of Wyeth's. Painting her indoors or out, clothed or nude from 1971 to 1985. He painted without telling a single person, including his wife. He stated that he would not have been able to have finished the project with everyone looking at it.The 2 images in this packet are In the Orchard (1973) and Capecoat (1982) and are now in the Cheekwood Museum. Five cards of each painting with 10 envelopes. Limited quantity available. $9.95
Ladies at Waddesdon
Waddesdon is the English Home of the Rothschilds. A "Stately" home in every sense. Among all the beauty of buildings and grounds are the wonderful art works. The 3 paintings chosen for this set of note cards are all by George Romney (1734-1802).
He was the only portrait painter of his era that was not a member of the Royal Academy. This perhaps cost him not to be a "Royalty" painter, but his clients were certainly notables of British society. The front image of this note card set is of Lady Hamilton who was the mistress of Nelson.
Winslow Homer (1836-1910)
This is a charming set of rural life as it once was. The Return of the Gleaner was painted in 1867. The second work, The Last Days of the Harvest was done in 1874. As an American painter, Homer is better known for his land and seascapes. For 20 years he worked as an illustrator for Boston area magazines including Harper's Weekly. It is interesting to note many of his works were developed during his vacations, before he was an established presence on the art scene of the time.

Harold Weston
Born in1894 in Merion, Pennsylvania, the American painter ranged from American expressionism to realism and then abstraction. He had many successful exhibitions in the 1920's and 1930's. However, it was his arts advocacy that led to the passage of the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities Act of 1965.
The paintings shown on these note cards are Pussy Willow (1928) and Melon (1930)
